Liebster Award

Lieb

I was nominated four times! Woohoo 😀 So, first of all, I’d like to thank Pavi @ For the Love of Fictional Worlds and Sumeet @ Musings of A Reading Mind for nominating me for this award. I was actually also nominated twice before, but thanks to my weird memory, I’ve forgotten the names of the lovely people who did so. Anyways, thanks to Pavi and Sumeet—their blogs are awesome, you should definitely check them out!

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog!
  2. Give your readers 11 random facts about yourself.
  3. Answer the 11 questions from the blog who nominated you.
  4. Nominate 11 bloggers.
  5. Ask your nominees 11 new questions.

11 Random Facts About Me

1. I want to be a pilot when i grow up. Or a software engineer. Or work in NASA.
2. I’m a very competitive person—if I don’t win, you don’t want to be anywhere around me. I won’t tryout for a sport if I’m not the best at it, and if I lose because of someone else, I get very angry 🙂
3. On weekends, and during the holidays, only the thought of food wakes me up. A crunchy toast, warm waffles, or just cold cereal—it’s life.
4. Imitating accents is one of my favourite things to do when I’m bored, or just when I’d like to have some fun. I love the British accent, but others like Australian and Texan work great for pranking and fun, too!
5. When I was younger, I was a total tomboy. I used to watch Transformers, and play soccer and cricket. I still am one now, I guess. Optimus Prime rocks!
6. I have a disorder called wanderlust. Yes, I don’t like staying in one place for too long and am constantly restless. More than a few hundred places are on my travel list at the moment. And it’s going to grow.
7. I love making lists, and in a day, realistically, I make at least two. They differ from ‘Books To Read This Month’ to ‘Things to Do Today’.
8. I usually take up more things than I can handle—learning French, German and Spanish at the same time; learning flute, piano and guitar, etc.
9. I’m not really religious, and some might call me an agnostic, and some an athiest. But I believe that God exists, just that religion doesn’t have to—there should be no rules, like there are in religion, I think.
10. I think about things a lot. Where the Internet came from, how is so much data space possible, how do planes fly with so much weight? Okay, so most of it is about technology. But still.
11. I believe in astrology, and have since the day I learnt about it. I mean, why not? All the predictions come true, it’s a fun way to spend some extra time, and it’s harmless! Totally cool, too.

I’ll have to answer both Pavi’s and Sumeet’s questions, so this post might be a long one. Buckle your seat belts!

Questions by For the Love of Fictional Worlds

1. The book/author that you owe your reading obsession to?

I don’t really remember the book that got me started on reading, but I think it was the Harry Potter series. I think we’ve all started out with those. I really got into YA with Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck, after that.

2. Your first fictional love.

I think this award goes to William Herondale from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. Dark blue eyes, black hair, British boy. Oh, I think after him, no one else has been able to take his place. And yeah, he’s the reason my expectations of a guy are so high.

3. Your top 5 fictional role models and why?

Hmm, this might be a bit hard, considering I’ve only just started reading books.. My top five fictional role models are:

  • Tessa Gray, The Infernal Devices trilogy
  • Hermione Granger, The Harry Potter series
  • Kelsey Hayes, The Tiger’s Curse
  • Kestrel, The Winner’s Curse
  • Cassie Sullivan, The 5th Wave

4. Which book/series has influenced you the most?

The Harry Potter series. Hasn’t it influenced everyone? It motivated me to read, it told me magic was real, it made me dream higher than I had ever before. I was 12 when I read it, and I’m almost 15 now. I haven’t stopped reading since, even if there were reading slumps, writer’s blocks, and other obstacles on the way. And I never will 😀

5. Where do you find new books to read from?

I usually look for recommendations on Goodreads from my friends and the bookish community. I also love watching Booktube videos and try to stay up to date with books that are being released.

6. One person (can be anyone) whose reading recommendations you would follow blindly?

I think that one person is going to be Christine of PolandbananasBOOKS. It’s not only because she reads the same genres that I do, but also because I’ve read the books she has recommended and have loved them all. There is a pretty high chance that I’ll love the next one!

7. Who is your go to listening partner for all things fictional?

Out of my huge group of friends, sadly there are only a few who love to read, and even they don’t read as often. So mostly I get my fictional matter support from the book blogging community here! All my followers and friends online are great, awesome people and I love every chance I can get to share my bookish feelings with them 🙂

8. One fictional world you would give up everything to live in.

The Greek world from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series! I would love to be the daughter of Poseidon—his kids have the coolest (haha, get the pun) powers. But that would mean being Percy’s sister, which I do not want. If there is way around that, I’d be more than happy to transport myself to Camp Half-Blood.

9. The one book that has brought you out of a bad time.

There wasn’t ever that bad of a time to bring me out of, for a book, but The Hobbit was a book that accelerated my reading interest and geared my out of a time of reading slumps. Those are bad times…

10. Book/Series that you wish would turn into a TV Serial so as not to compromise on any detail.

I really wanted The Mortal Instruments to be a TV show, and now it’s going to be one! Hooray! I really hope they get stuff right, and not like the movie. Alex Pettyfer, I hereby declare you able to play the role of Jace Herondale.

11. One book that is your go to recommendation for any reader.

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. The trilogy might be a little hard to get into because of the new world and the historical setting and writing, but it’s one of the best once you can adjust to it. The characters are awesome, the plot is brilliant and it never lets you go. Everybody should read it.

Questions by Musings of A Reading Mind

1. What’s your favorite book of all times? It could be a series, or a stand-alone.

See anywhere on this post, or blog: The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I think I’ve crossed the limit of mentioning a book in a single post!

2. What’s your favorite book-to-movie adaptation, and why?

The Fault in Our Stars. It really grasped the theme and was the most similar adaptation I’ve seen, with fewer scenes cut/changed. It’s also the only movie that has made me shed a couple tears—I’m not a crying person, and crying during a book/movie is out of the picture!

3. What do you prefer – ebooks or physical books? And if they are physical books, do you prefer paperbacks or hardcovers?

I’ve always been a physical books fan—hardcover. I read ebooks, too, but I find often that it’s hard for me to finish a book when it’s on my iPad. I read better and faster with hardcovers, and no matter what happens, I think I’ll like them best. They look nice on bookshelves too.

4. What is your dream destination for a vacation?

I just went to Cancun, Mexico—this is why I was MIA for the past ten days or so—so I won’t want to go on a beach vacation anytime soon! I haven’t ever been to Paris, though, and it would be a dream come true if I could have the chance to visit the beautiful city.

5. If you won a million dollars, what would be the first thing that you would buy with that money?

I couldn’t use up all that money. At least, I don’t think so! The cheesy thing here would be to say giving it to a charity, or to my parents. But, truthfully, I would first buy my most favourite things, like books, music, and travel the world. And then, I’d give the rest to a children’s foundation, because my parents wouldn’t accept money from me (I’d offer them a few teddy bears instead, lol).

6. What three things, beside books, make you happy?

I like a lot of things. I’ll just name the three that come into my mind at the moment—travelling, hanging out with friends, and listening to music, and playing sports. Okay, I had to add that last one. I love sports and try to get into as many as I can—I play badminton, tennis, basketball and volleyball.

7. What movie are you most looking forward to watching this summer?

This is a dreaded question. I’m really behind on watching movies because of school and reading, so I have many options for this one. I think maybe Divergent, or Paper Towns (after I read the book). Non-book related, I’ll watch the Anacondas movies, all the Final Destination ones, and some horror movies.

8. If you could learn a new language, which one would it be?

I love learning new languages! I already know English and Hindi, and I’m currently learning French. I tried learning German a little while ago, but I couldn’t concentrate on it. I think I’ll probably continue with it. Or maybe I’ll try Spanish, or Irish.

9. Which fictional world would you most want to live in?

I’ve already answered this:

The Greek world from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series! I would love to be the daughter of Poseidon—his kids have the coolest (haha, get the pun) powers. But that would mean being Percy’s sister, which I do not want. If there is way around that, I’d be more than happy to transport myself to Camp Half-Blood.

10. Who is your fictional boyfriend/girlfriend/best-friend?

You see, I have way too many of these. But I’ll try my best to pick favourites. My true fictional love is Will Herondale (as you can tell by the million times I have mentioned this). I’m a girl (and straight!) so I don’t have a fictional girlfriend, but if I had to choose, it’d be Kelsey from The Tiger’s Curse, because she’s brave and independent, which I want to be. And for my best friend, Tessa Gray. It wouldn’t be fair for her because I already took her love (Will) but I hope she’ll understand 😉

11. What book cover is you favorite? Share a picture!

I don’t like this question—I have way too many favourite covers! If you read my reviews, you’ll know that I usually begin them by complimenting on the cover. It’s too hard to pick a favourite, but here is one of the best covers I have seen:
